Goldfish Dress
I have literally had this fabric since before I could sew. I think I bought it at a church garage sale way back in high school because I couldn't pass up a teal wavy fabric with goldfish. It's probably from the 80's and it was a NIGHTMARE to work with, slippery, strechy and horrible. I don't know what it is with me and difficult fabrics lately... Also, I used some shiny rayon thread that I bought for another project and it broke every 5 seconds. The pattern is Simplicity 3503, view B. It definitely had no instructions on exactly how to attach the two bodice pieces to the midriff. Literally, no instructions. I checked like 5 times... Whatever, it's not the best fit of my life (unless I get a boob job) but come on, the fabric is a crazy, shiny, disco, goldfish covered shenanigan so how can I go wrong?

Write commentsIt came out well in the end. I have this pattern but haven't sewn it yet. Eugenia from Eugenia's wonderful world of fashion has made about 5 versions of this dress. You might check it for hints about the construction.
ReplyI adore your fabric, and I think the dress turned out very well! I think my favorite part is the back tie - uber stylish :)
